Brainstorm.

So we're supposed to make an appropriated picture relating to an issue...

... ideas

1- cheating/ leading on/ breaking heart
2- some religion related thing... shiny on e outside but not-so-shiny on e inside?

...

10/2010
I finally decided on communication breakdown because of something I observed in my family.

Assignment 3

We were supposed to take
1. a zoom shot
2. a close up shot
3. a perspective shot
4. metaphor of a smile

While playing around with it, my friend happened to take this freaky picture of me which I find really funny...it would've been freakier if the thing that stayed constant was one of my eyes o_o...

Anyway.

Here's my zoom shot

It doesn't look as great small so enlarge it. I like it because it's like, the perspective of someone running down the hallway. It is slanted on purpose too.

I originally wanted to shoot the exit sign, but it didn't turn out too nice. So I picked this in the end. It would be nicer if I could make the exit sign more apparent.

I didn't really understand the perspective shot, so I gave it a miss until I went for lesson and got it clarified.
Also, my camera lens could not let me focus on something too close, so I was wondering if I needed a more macro lens, and didn't do that as well, but according to Ms Jing there's nothing wrong with my camera lens, I should shoot something bigger. haha!

My understanding of a "metaphor of a smile" was more along the lines of, something heartwarming. Like, a pregnant mother with her husband's arms around her. That sort of thing. but tell me where am I supposed to find a pregnant lady and her husband and SNAP A PICTURE OF THEM?! @_@

So in the short term... this...

It is a metaphor of a smile because it is a birthday cake, and it shows warmth, the thing behind is a card. I would've liked the composition to have a few more hands, holding hands, but it was rather difficult to execute being that it was a -real- birthday celebration and I didn't want to impose by -doing my ASSIGNMENT-... haha :D

Assignment 2

We're supposed to play with the depth of field.

These 4 pictures are playing with shallow depth of view, and is achieved by setting the aperture and using the zoom.

Focus on the background

Focus on the foreground

(I particularly like this set because it is like staring out of the window from inside the room, then after that you start thinking about something and the outside blurs out...so contemplative)

Foreground

Background

This set could be interesting if I had human subjects doing something in the picture... like if someone was innocently reading something, and the deer was some sinister evil deer about to do something terrible to her... haha!

Assignment 2 too

We were also supposed to do a panning shot, as well as a freeze action.

I was trying to do a panning shot with this, but I think it works better as freeze action.

I took another panning shot of my own face, while I spun around on the computer lab chair, with Melissa's camera, but the photograph is with Melissa :S Shall get it from her the next class... or find another spinable chair somewhere i wont look stupid doing it...

Assignment 1

Take 5 pictures: colour, texture, lines, shape, form, ...

Colour. Black contrasted with white is colour too, right? :D

Lines...

Texture. I was tempted to use this as colour. I think its really pretty :X
First noticed this when it rained...the water really brought out the colour of these floor tiles :)

Shape. I'd have prefered a more interesting composition, but this is the most 2D thing I found for now :)

Form.
I'm still waiting for a sunnier day.

Alternatives...
Colour

Lines

Shape

Hi!

For the love of taking pictures! :)
